One of the questions we often get asked is….
What are WE supposed to DO during the time between Cub Camp pick-up and Junior 1 Camp Registration?
Pick-up time for Cub campers is from 9:00-10:00 AM and Registration for Junior 1 campers is from 2:00-4:00 PM. As a staff we need that time to clean and regroup, but we know it can be rather inconvenient for parents.
One option might be to carpool. Families living in the same vicinity might choose to have one family pick up the Cub campers and another family drop off the Junior 1 campers.
Most campers like to go out to eat at a restaurant or have a picnic in a park and just spend time with their family members that they haven’t seen all week. They will have lots of stories to tell. The town of Camdenton is about 30 minutes away and there are quite a few restaurants there including Taco Bell, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, and an awesome Mexican restaurant called El Caporal. The Camdenton city park is nice place to have a picnic. Find out more info about the park at www.camdentoncity.com/local_recreation/city_park.php.
There are a couple of state parks in the vicinity that are fun to visit, HaHa Tonka State Park and Lake of the Ozarks State Park. HaHa Tonka has some cool ruins of an old mansion, a spring, nature center, cave, natural bridge and some hiking trails. Lake of the Ozarks State Park also has lots of fun stuff to do including water activities and hiking/biking trails. Check out both parks at https://mostateparks.com.
Bridal Cave is just outside Camdenton. It is a bit pricey, but it is considered a top attraction in the area. Find out more at http://www.bridalcave.com.
The outlet mall in Osage Beach would probably appeal more to mom than kids, but shopping is an air-conditioned way to kill a few hours. Store listings and hours can be found at http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=57.
